What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient holistic system of health and wellbeing from India, often translated as “the science of life.”
It is based on the understanding that each person is unique, and that true health comes from balance between body, mind, and energy.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, Ayurveda looks at the whole person supporting natural balance and harmony from within.

What happens in an Ayurvedic session?

n Ayurvedic massage session is a slow, intentional and deeply nourishing experience.

Each session is adapted to your individual needs in the present moment. It is not a fixed routine, but a responsive practice guided by observation and touch.

During a session, you can expect:

  • a brief moment of check-in to understand your current state
  • the use of herbal oils selected for your constitution and condition
  • rhythmic, flowing massage techniques that support circulation and relaxation
  • attention to areas of tension, fatigue, or imbalance
  • a calm, grounding atmosphere designed to support nervous system regulation

The aim is not only relaxation, but a deeper reconnection with the body.

The use of oils in Ayurveda

Oils are a fundamental part of Ayurvedic massage (Abhyanga).

They are chosen according to your individual constitution (dosha) and current needs. Oils are traditionally infused with herbs that support different effects such as grounding, detoxifying or calming.

The oil is gently warmed and applied to the body with rhythmic movements. This helps to:

  • deeply nourish the skin and tissues
  • support circulation and lymphatic flow
  • soften muscular tension
  • calm the nervous system
  • create a sense of containment and safety in the body

In Ayurveda, oil is not only physical nourishment, it is also considered a carrier of balance and vitality.

The experience

An Ayurvedic massage is not just a treatment, but a pause.

A space where the body can slow down, release unnecessary tension, and return to its natural rhythm.

It is an invitation to feel more present, more grounded, and more connected to yourself.

Ayurveda is a practice of listening.

Through touch, oil, and awareness, the body is supported in remembering its own balance.
